In this issue:
1. Doing Business in Canada: An Intra-Company work permit can allow non-residents to expand their business to Canada
2. Nouveau programme d'immigration en vigueur au Québec
3. Ontario facing critical shortage of skilled workers
4. Immigration Trust: A five year tax holiday for new Canadian immigrants

For individuals interested in bringing their current business to Canada, there are new guidelines that will help them to accomplish this goal. In November 2009, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) redefined the way for businesses and individuals to get "Intra-Company Transfer" work permits.

Early this month, a management expert delivered a report that predicted an upcoming skills shortage in Ontario that could leave one million skilled positions unfilled over the next decade. This prognosis highlights the critical demand for skilled workers in the province that can be helped by welcoming more skilled immigrants to Ontario.

Canada's Income Tax Act allows new immigrants to Canada to benefit from a five year 'tax holiday' upon their arrival, which is particularly beneficial to individuals moving to Canada who have a high net worth and retain assets outside of Canada.
